WHO IS ASKING?

Central Indiana, encompassing Indianapolis and surrounding areas, possesses a rich history, diverse neighborhoods, compelling assets, and a burgeoning economy. However, it lacks a unified brand identity that effectively captures its essence, differentiates it from other Midwestern regions, and helps it compete with the fastest-growing regions in the nation. The Indy Chamber is working alongside a broad group of regional stakeholders to explore the development of clear, compelling, and authentic brand messaging for Indy.

WHY ARE THEY ASKING?

Indy’s brand and reputation have been topics of conversation amongst local leaders for decades. Just look to “Crossroads of America,” the “Amateur Sports Capital of the World,” and “Circle City” as evidence of this pursuit. While all are apt functional descriptions of our city, none offer immediate, broad association with Indy or make the compelling emotional connection necessary for long-term resonance.

Indy is a special place, one that should be proud of its myriad accomplishments. It’s time to trade a little Hoosier humility for a big dose of confidence and a clear message about what makes Indy unique and attractive. The timeline below lays out our plan of action to develop a compelling brand.
